Most families are not — and that is fine. The honest shortcuts: if your parent mostly needs company, structure and light help, start with companion care and save the nursing rates for later. If there are medications, hygiene needs or mobility risk, that is elderly home care. After an operation, post-surgery care covers the wound, the medication and the watchful eye, with wound care and prescribed injections as standalone visits when that is all you need. When the need runs around the clock, it becomes a live-in arrangement.
